The LULAC 5238 Education Council has made it our mission to be leaders in the domain of digital leadership. We strive to increase Latino visibility in this space by advocating for increased accessibility to resources. Our goal is to connect the Latino population with these resources and empower them to take initiative in the digital space. Our many council initiatives, including our partnerships with Grow with Google and the Flyer App, has allowed us to advance change in this space. Our vision is to facilitate societal change where Latinos are not left behind when it comes to leveraging digital resources, but are changemakers and leaders in this newly emerging digital world.
Grow with Google
LULAC 5238 has partnered with LULAC National to be a part of the piolet program with Google, which is focused on improving digital skills in our community. Through our partnership, our council has also partnered with the Summit School District 104 in Summit, IL to engage the local community in growing their digital skills. We have engaged teachers and parents through a fun and educational workshop to teach fundamentals of using Google digital products. Our participants have learned how they can utilize Google’s wide variety of digital products in their personal and professionals lives. LULAC Connect
In creating LULAC Connect, DLN has partnered with Flyer School to use their mobile content management platform, Flyer Connect. Hundreds of schools and communities are currently using Flyer Connect to communicate more effectively with students’ families. For instructional content, DLN is working with Our American Voice® to provide educational resources available on the mobile app. The app gives schools the ability to use critical push notifications and announcements, surveys, instructional resources, and calendaring, while providing data analytics for schools to ensure their families are accessing the information and resources.
LULAC Census 2020
The DLN will provide the LULAC Connect Mobile App with Managed Services that includes intensive design and technical support to schools and organizations. The DLN team will help support families as they deploy the LULAC Connect innovative mobile technology tool to facilitate communication and remote learning. LULAC Connect will post resources students and families can access using mobile phones. Once it is up and running, the schools and organizations will have the ability to efficiently maintain and manage the app on their own with minimal time investment.
